INGLETON racer Harley Rushton put on his Sunday best to secure his first win of the new Classic Racing National Championships at the Pembrey Race Circuit in South Wales.

His victory came in the final race of the weekend when he guided his 350 Craven Honda home ahead of the field.

Rushton, 20, said: "I got some good laps in straight away to get an advantage over my main opponent, Ollie Linsdell.

I got enough of a gap over him and he was unable to catch me."

Earlier in the day he had come seventh on his 500 Craven Manx Norton in the ACU 500 National Race despite losing his brakes during the race.

The opening day's racing had proved tough for Rushton. He started off with a second place behind Linsdell in the 350 race, but was seventh and fifth in the 500cc races.

Rushton altered some settings on the Craven Manx for the Sunday races and managed to improve his lap times by half a second. He finished in sixth and fifth in the club races.

"After going the wrong way with settings on Saturday afternoon I still managed to get another second place. I got the setting of the bike just right and got up to a pace I was comfortable with on the Sunday," he said

The second round of the Classic Racing National Championships is at Cadwell Park on May 3 and 4.
