HARLEY Rushton had a weekend of fluctuating fortunes in the latest round of the Classic Motorcycle Championship at Anglesey.

It started off with a low after he crashed out of the lead of the 350cc race on the second lap which was a big blow to his championship challenge.

Fortunately his bike only suffered cosmetic damage and once repaired Harley was back out in the next race and won from sixth on the grid.

Harley continued this form picking up two more wins in perfect conditions on the Sunday to claw some points back for his championship challenge.

Rushton also had two races on the TZ when he was filling in for his absent team mate Mike Cooper. He achieved two sixth-place finishes.

Saturday’s 500cc races saw the Ingleton rider claim third and fourth place finishes and there looked to be room for some improvement.

Sunday's first 500cc race saw Harley secure fourth place. He followed that up third place in an attritional ACU 500 National race.

The final 500cc race of the day ended in disaster for Rushton on the second lap. He lost the front of his bike going downhill into a left turn while in second place.

The 20-year-old was left battered and bruised with a bad end to the weekend, he was gutted with the crash.

"The weekend started well with some good testing on Friday but went downhill after I tumbled off the 350 Honda in the first race.

“The results got better from there and so did the weather, by Sunday the wind had dropped and the conditions were very good. I'm pleased with my third place in the ACU National 500 race and my three wins on the 350.

“The weekend was looking good until I took that big fall in the final race. It wasn't the best end but the damage wasn't too bad so we can repair the bike ready for the next races in Scotland in two weeks’ time.”
