CLARKSON Cup holders Keighley A cruised through to this year's semi-finals with a resounding win over Skipton Devon B.

The quarter-final match at Cononley saw Keighley A in top form with all ten winners against Division One's bottom team. Skipper Trevor Hargreaves 21-3 had the best win, closely followed by his son Richard 21-4 and Richard Dunhill 21-5 in a 215-160 win.faced each other at Rolls Royce with the A team having to give their high-flying Division Three B side a 65 points start.

It turned out to be a close and exciting match. Peter Peacock was the B team's only winner with a 21-20 triumph, but his colleagues were getting good scores in defeat.

Scott Bairstow's 21-4 victory for the A team proved vital as the squeezed home 254-252. The match between Settle A and Oakworth at Cross Hills was even closer.

Settle A went through on the bonus point after the match finished tied 246-246.

Both teams had five winners each with Brian Farrage 21-7 and Derek Seed 21-9 the best for Settle.

Oakworth made a late surge with their best winners being Paul Haigh 21-8 and Karl Lockwood 21-15 but it wasn't quite enough.

The last quarter-final saw Silsden just get the better of Devon A, on a lawn which is officially Addingham Bowling green.

Both teams made light of the conditions, as Silsden got the better start to pull back the handicap with Bill Hardwick 21-11 best. The middle four games swung back to Devon with Les Foster 21-14 helping them to take to an eight-point lead.

Silsden then finished strongly, as Dennis Mackie 21-9 and Dave Smith 21-14 got the results needed for a 207-196.

The Supplementary Ambulance Cup saw last year's runners up Steeton A making the most of their ten points handicap advantage to progress against Cross Hills B at Lund Park.

Derek Squires 21-4 gave Cross Hills a good start, but Martin Walsh replied with a 21-4 victory for Steeton.

Both sides had five winners and it was Graham Seward 21-6 that got Steeton A through 235-228.

Division One leaders Cononley A were also in action at Lund Park where they had to give 40 points to Silsden Playing Fields A.

A good result for John Parkin 21-7 got Cononley off to a good start, it was a lot tighter from then on, but they clawed back the handicap.

With the last two games on there was just two points in the match, then Andy Woolner 21-9 and Arthur Woolacott 21-17 put in a great finish for Playing Fields to secure a 201-183 win.

Gargrave A skipper Matty Simpson 21-5, got his side off to a good start against Colne Legion A at Whinfield.

Legion could not get a foothold in the game as Gargrave produced seven winners to wrap up the match 245-202. Martyn Foulds was their best winner with a 21-4 triumph.

The final tie at Colne Cricket Club, saw Craven A take on Gargrave B who received 55 points.

But the match was soon out of Gargrave’s reach as Mick Bastow 21-4, Debbie Hosty 21-5 and David Hemsley 21-6 pulled back the handicap. Only Andrew Cleminson 21-19 managed a win for Gargrave as Craven A moved into the semi-final 238-193.

In the Walker Foster Division One there was just one round of matches, but a significant result saw Colne Cricket Club beat league leaders Cononley A 9-3.

Cross Hills A won 10-2 at home to Lund Park while Keighley A won at Colne Legion 8-4.

So the top of the table sees Cononley A five points ahead of Cross Hills A, while Colne Cricket Club and Keighley A are still well in the mix.

It was a good week for Cross Hills B at the top of the Andrew Town Division Two as they won 11-1 at Whinfield B, while their nearest rivals Colne Legion B lost 9-3 at Oakworth.

Steeton A, who are third, also lost 10-2 at Gargrave B. Rolls Royce just got the better of Keighley B 7-5. So Cross Hills B 138 now have a 13-point lead over Colne Legion B.

Sutton B continue to run away with the Skipton Building Society Division Three, as the are now 18 points clear after a 9-1 win at Keighley C.

Grassington slipped up with a 7-3 home defeat to Settle B, Craven B also slipped to defeat 6-4 at Steeton C.

The Hargreaves Ltd Summer Doubles is still open for entries till this Saturday, with a executive meeting on Sunday to do the draw.

The Skipton Veterans inter district match against Halifax resulted in a very disappointing 37-19 defeat.

The next match will be tomorrow against Bradford. The home leg is at Craven and the away tie at Peel Park, Bradford, both commencing at 1.30 pm.
