KEIGHLEY & Craven Athletics Club have won the Fell Runners' Association (FRA) English Junior Championship team prize for the first time.

They clinched their victory from the other 57 participating clubs at the Malham Fell Race, the sixth and final counting event.

Keighley & Craven gained 865 points, with Ilkley Harriers joint second with Holmfirth Harriers on 843, with Wharfedale Harriers fourth on 839 and Bingley Harriers seventh on 810.

However, Keighley & Craven's success wasn't limited to team awards.

Lilli Carr was the overall under-12 girls' winner, with Alice Jones of Wharfedale third. And Louis Hudson was the second under-13 boy ahead of Wharfedale's Sam Smith (fourth) and Alexander Thompson (sixth).

Joe Hudson was the second under-14 boy for Keighley, with Wharfedale's Emily Jones the sixth under-14 girl, and James Lund (Keighley & Craven) was the fifth under-16 boy, just ahead of Wharfedale's Thomas Nelson.

In the under-18 girls, Hannah Thom (Keighley & Craven) was sixth and Hannah Newbold (Wharfedale) eighth.

The awards were presented last Saturday at the FRA's Junior Championship training camp at Marl Pits Sports Centre, Rossendale.

Wharfedale also won the Uphill Team Championship.
