KEIGHLEY and Craven’s Craig Shearer stormed to victory in the Bradley Family Daty Fell Race.

He clocked 24min 25sec to hold off the challenge of the Wharfedale Harriers' pair of F Lee Athersmith (24.33)and Dave Kirkham (26.26). First lady was Keighley and Craven’s Helen Glover (27.48). 2nd and 3rd ladies were Bingley Harriers’ Shona Stone (31.23) and Ripon Runners’ Sally Houghton (31.50). Martin Humphris from Wharfedale Harriers and Denise Wright from Bingley Harriers took first local prizes.

A total of 87 juniors lined up for the mad dash to the bridge and possible queueing since the junior runners were barred from attempting to leap across the beck, for safety reasons.

The U17 race was won by Keighley and Craven’s Tom Barrett (24.53) with 2nd and 3rd boys being Wharfedale team mates Robbie Johnstone (25.07) and Adam Gibson (28.31). 1st girl was Barnsley AC’s Alice Moore (26.24). 2nd and 3rd girls were Helm Hill team mates Katie Thurlow (29.52) and Georgia Stevens (32.50). This made the U17 girls’ race a truly long distance event!

U14 race winner was Wharfedale’s Logan Hargreaves-Madhas (10.56). 2nd and 3rd boys were Settle Harriers’ Sebastian Segger-Staveley (11.50) and Bingley Harrier’s Joe Carnelly (12.08). 1st and 2nd girls were Wharfedale team mates Charlotte Barrett (12.59) and Emily Jones (13.40). Thirdrd girl was Keighley and Craven’s Lucy Fryers (13.42). Charlie Coughlin was first local.

U12 race winner and new record holder was Wharfedale’s Sam Smith (6.02), taking 6 seconds off the previous record. Second boy was team mate Alex Thompson (6.21) and 3rd boy was Calder Valley’s Jude Baldaro (6.30). 1st girl was Keighley and Craven’s Lilli Carr (6.24). 2nd and 3rd girls were Wharfedale’s Alice Jones (6.31) and Keighley and Craven’s Beth Roberts (7.02). Charlie Teale and Rosie Coughlin were first local boy and girl.

The U9 race was won by Keighley and Craven’s James Sadler-Townsend (2.56). 2nd and 3rd boys were Ilkley Harriers Jonathan Archer (2.59) and Keighley and Craven’s Lachlan Wills (3.01). First girl was Keighley and Craven’s Hannah Robinson (3.06) who equalled the current girls’ record. Second and third were her team-mate Phoebe Midgley (3.10) and Wharfedale’s Lily Milner (3.23). Daniel Ridehalgh and Isabella Wright were first local boy and girl.
