THERE will be two Cross Hills bowlers in Sunday's Yorkshire County EE Cockcroft Handicap final at Thornhill.

Andrew Tate and David Scott claimed their places in the line-up in the qualifier at Whinfield.

Tate performed well as he won his three matches against David Jacques 21-17, Martyn Cox 21-12 and David Smith 21-13.

David Scott had just two matches beating Ian Shepherd 21-11 and Peter Hepworth 21-19.

Craven's Viv Abell played for Yorkshire Ladies in the County final against Lancashire at Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Viv bowled well to beat Mary Wrench 21-16, but it was a disappointing result for Yorkshire as they lost 419-414.

The Skipton and District Floodlight League is again extending the season for local bowlers.

The format of four singles and two doubles per match is proving to be popular with all the bowlers. Cononley A and Colne Cricket have strong sides in division one and are joint top on 20 points, with Devon 18 points, Oxenhope 16, Gargrave 14 and Silsden PF 8 all up to challenge the top two.

The second division is also close with Keighley 20, Steeton A 18, Cross Hills A 17, Settle 15, Lund Park A 14, and Colne Legion A 12.

Division Three sees Colne Legion B doing well with 24 points, Whinfield A 21 and Gargrave B 18 are a little clear of the others. Lund Park B head Division Four with 16 points from Steeton B 15, Whinfield B 12, Gargrave C 11 and Cross Hills B 10 .
