A CLASH of events affected the prestigious John Metcalfe Trophy Trial at Sutton-in-Craven last Sunday.

The Bradford Motor Club event only attracted 28 entries, with Glusburn builder Nathan Wrigglesworth finishing second out of eight in the experts category behind Trawden elevator engineer Ros Crosby.

They faced a two-lap, 20-section course, and Crosby lost just two penalties on section one on lap two.

Wrigglesworth also lost one mark on the same section but added to his score in sections six, seven and eight.

Ilkley heating engineer Andy Tales recovered from his Scott Trial ordeal to win the Clubman 5050 class from Keighley's Darren Holmes and Luke Standring.

Meanwhile, Grassington motor engineer John Maxfield was fifth in Hillsborough MCC's Final Normandale Traditional Trial Championship at Bradfield on Sunday.
