SKIPTON swimmers enjoyed an impressive weekend in ASA North East Region Short Course Championships at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre.

All the competitors had to qualify by swimming under set times for each stroke and distance.

All the Skipton swimmers in action came away with personal best performances or new club records.

Millie Sharp swam her last NER Championship and Madison Turner her first.

Hannah Raistrick was the star performer as she won a gold and a silver medal in the under-13 age group, while there was a bronze for the battling Ned Sharp in the under-12s.

Raistrick's victory came in the 50m butterfly where she broke her own club record with a time of 30.54sec. Her silver came in the 100m butterfly with a time of 1min 08.28sec.

For good measure she set personal bests of 33.28 in the 50m backstroke, where she was eighth, and 2.32.71 while coming ninth in the 200m individual medley.

Ned Sharp qualified for seven events 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke, 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly and 200m individual medley. He achieved a bronze medal in his 50m butterfly with a time of 30.91 and broke five club records.

Lauren Hanson reached two senior finals while setting three personal bests and three club records. Her highlight was taking eighth place in the 50m breast having qualified in a personal best time of 35.92. Hanson was tenth in the 50m backstroke in 30.71 and set club records for the under-16 50m freestyle in 28.80, 50m butterfly in 30.2 and finally the 100m butterfly with 1.07.83.

Ethan Camsey achieved an impressive ten qualifying times for the championship and came in the top ten in eight of his under-14 races.

His highest finish was sixth in the 50m backstroke where he clocked 30.14. He was seventh in three events, 100m backstroke in 1.04.37, 200m backstroke in 2.18.52 and 50m butterfly in 29.33.

Luke Midgley knocked over half a second off the previous under-13 50m breaststroke record for Skipton with a time of 34.72 seconds whilst achieving an impressive fourth place.

Three personal bests and two fifth-place finishes in the 50m breaststroke in 34.25 and the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:14.82, capped a good effort from Tom Barrett.

Bea Waller recorded personal bests in all her four under-15 events, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 50m breaststroke. Her best finish was eighth in the longest of the backstroke events.

Millie Sharp retired on a high note with a personal best in the 50m butterfly of 30.32,

Declan Sequeira achieved a personal best in the under-10 50m butterfly of 33.88 seconds.

Two impressive personal best swims capped a fine first NER Championship meeting for Madison Turner. She shaved six seconds off her personal best in the under-10 200m backstroke where she clocked 2.44.28 to take tenth place. In the 100m backstroke she took two seconds from her fastest time with 1.18.7 as she came 11th

Joel Phillip set a new club record time of 30.75 in the under-12 50m butterfly. He also had personal bests in the 100m butterfly of 1.11.80 and 28.67 for the 50m freestyle.

Declan Sequeira achieved a personal best in the under-10 50m butterfly of 33.88 seconds.
