SKIPTON swimmers headed over to Aireborough Leisure Centre, Guiseley on Saturday for the fifth and final gala of the 2015 Airedale & Wharfedale District Amateur Swimming Association series.

It was a great night for them as the club won the Silver Jubilee Trophy with 340 points, the trophy is presented to the club with the most points over the five galas in the year.

Skipton were also joint first with 95 points in the team events and are joint holders of the Team Trophy for 2015 with Bradford Swimming club.

It was an exciting evening which was not only well supported by an excellent turn out of Skipton swimmers, but by vocal supporters too.

Skipton were represented in nine of the night's ten finals. There were some excellent swims, with Hermione Roe winning the 4 x 1 individual medley, Megan Baines taking first place in the two lengths backstroke and the Ladies Open Freestyle Team retaining the Shield they won last year.

Mark Mahoney picked up three gold medals. He won the four lengths butterfly and two lengths freestyle and was part of the victorious 4 x 2 open freestyle team.

Ethan Camsey also collected three wins. He retained the four lengths breaststroke trophy he won last year and was in the winning 4 x 2 medley and 4 x 2 open freestyle teams.

The boys 13-14 years 4 x 2 medley team of Ethan Camsey, Tom Barrett, Joel Phillip and Daniel Burrows broke the competition record time which had stood since 2006 in winning their event.
