EAST MORTON landlord Martin Crosswaite was just too good for his rivals at Addingham Moorside on Sunday where he won the second Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club trial championship.

The former youth trials star and current stunt motorcycle show expert ended the four-lap ten section event 20 penalties ahead of rival expert Dan Hemingway, with outgoing Centre champion Sam Yeadon in third place. Bradford youth Kieran Child was back on form and was fourth overall in the hard course class.

Halifax Clubman A contender Michael Benn won his class from Richmond’s Richard Pettler. Bradford's Charlie Smith was the top youth rider. Denholme’s Andy Brooksbank won Clubman B from Paul Jackson and Karl Greaves. Silsden 14-year-old Gabby Whitham made her debut on a brand new Beta after two years on a Jotagas machine.

* Glusburn builder Nathan Wrigglesworth won the second event in the Bradford Motor Club’s closed championship trials series at sunny Cowling Cragg on Sunday by a clear margin from Queensbury inter grade competitor Sam Boocock.

The entry list was well below normal numbers due to another event taking place less than ten miles down the Aire valley. Only 26 competitors rode the ten-section course with four laps on the hillside affording fine views of the scenery. John Hopkinson won the Clubman A class by a good margin but Skipton veteran Bob Akrigg was under pressure all the way from Steve Wilde. Akrigg won the class by virtue of the last two sections on the lap where Wilde lost 11 marks compared to Akrigg’s one penalty on lap three.
