HEBDEN’S Victoria Wilkinson produced another top performance in the gruelling World Mountain Running Championships in Bulgaria.
The 37-year-old, running in the event for the 11th time, finished in 11th place.
Her team-mates Hattie Archer and Emily Collinge were tenth and 16th respectively as Great Britain came fourth, just one point behind the United States who claimed the bronze medal.
The 7.4km race on an uphill only course, featuring 700m of vertical ascent, was won for the sixth time by Austrian Andrea Mayr.
Wilkinson said: “It was a really tough course and the steep climb to the finish was particularly challenging.
“We actually finished at high altitude, and that suited the Italian and American runners who finished in the medals.”
Wilkinson’s next challenge is the English Fell Running Championship race in the Lake District on October 8. She needs to win to have a chance of the title.
