THE father and son pairing of Craig and Sean Lemon have done themselves and Ghyll proud by reaching the final 16 of the prestigious Daily Mail Foursomes.

This is no mean feat especially as Sean has only been playing golf seriously for the past three years. They follow in the footsteps of another Ghyll pair, Alan Garrick and Eric Hepworth, who won through in 1982.

After winning the club competition to represent Ghyll, Craig and Sean began their campaign, along with teams from well over 3,00 clubs nationwide, by beating Skipton in April.

Further victories followed over Kirkby Lonsdale, Towneley, Silverdale and Mytton Fold before taking Beacon Park to the 20th hole in Round Seven to qualify for the final.

The finals will be played at the Marriott St. Pierre Course, Chepstow October 16-18. After a practice round this Sunday, the Ghyll pair needs to win another three matches on Monday and Tuesday to reach the head-to-head final.
