THE FIRST Bronte Wheelers time trial of the new season took place on the Skipton to Bolton Abbey and back 20km course.

The cool conditions and hilly terrain did not seem to affect the riders and the winner was Bronte-Neophix rider Steve Ayers, who covered the course in a record time of 27min 05secs at an average speed of almost 45km per hour.

In second place, riding for Green Jersey, was Hamish Graham in a time of 28:18 and third was Pendle Forest’s Paul Braithwaite.

First lady was 16-year-old Lucy Horrocks, riding for Vertex Biemme in an excellent time of 34min 14 secs. First junior and fifth overall was Alex Ridehalgh, of Spokes RT, in a time of 30:25.
