THERE were two competitions taking place simultaneously at Settle last weekend.

Golfers with handicaps below 18 competed for the Post Office scratch trophy while the remaining players looking to get their hands on the Lawson cup.

The Post Office competition was keenly contested, and as would have been expected, was won by one of the single figure players. The 2016 winner Stephen Robinson repeated the form he showed last year and his nett 80, enabled him to hold off strong challenges from Craig Dinsdale and Martin Scaife who both produced below par nett scores.

The Lawson trophy was won by Brian Hartley, who is gradually returning to the form he showed in the past.

Hartley's nett 71 giving him a two shot victory over club secretary

Peter Johnson. The latter did however return the lowest gross score.
