THE Davy Cup ran with a shortfall of five observers at Skipton's Skyrakes Farm on Sunday where the Bradford & District Motor Club struggled to stage the annual Davy Cup Trial.

Bradford stalwarts Lucy, Brian and Anthony Ayrton joined forces with Jason Dunning and Nathan Wrigglesworth to mark a classy three-lap course of 14 sections.

The lofty sections overlooking Gargrave were the ideal starting point with four dusty and rocky climbs to get the show on

the road.

Glusburn's Wrigglesworth made his inside knowledge count as he won the Davy Cup with 16 penalties.

He finished six ahead of Joe Jennings who was awarded the Charlie Helm Rose Bowl in the Expert Class.

Louise Haley showed her paced to win the intermediate class with 21 penalties.

The Clubmen had an ‘easier’ route, a misnomer if ever as there was one, just nothing easy about the section at all.

Brendan Suffell’s dab on lap two was the bench mark although Baildon national sidecar trial ace Nigel Scott worked wonders with his rare RTL Honda.

In Clubman B, Rob Hardisty, Daniel Ralph and Steve Arnall scored nine penalties and were the best in class.
