SKIPTON Swimming Club had some memorable results in this year's North East Regional Age Group and Senior Long Course Championships at Sunderland’s Aquatic Centre.

Over the two weekends, 14 swimmers aged between ten and 18 competed in a total of 53 races.

Thireteen-year-old Ned Sharp produced some outstanding swims as he won four gold medals, one silver and bronze from the seven finals he qualified for.

He won the 50m and 100m events in both freestyle and butterfly, while finishing second in the 200m freestyle and third in the 50m breaststroke.

Sharp's full performances were 50m freestyle: 1st in 25.17 personal best, 100m freestyle: 1st in 55.79 pb, 200m freesyle: 2nd in 2:03.59 pb, 50m butterfly: 1st in 27.41, 100m butterfly: 1st in 1:01.25 pb, 50m breaststroke: 3rd in 33.73 pb, 50m backstroke: 7th in 31.50.

Twelve-year-old Madison Turner also had a great competition, reaching the finals of her three backstroke events.

She was seventh in the 200m backstroke in 2:33.93 and took eighth place in both the 50m and 100m with times of 34.67 and 1:13.00 respectively.

Ethan Camsey, 16, competed in 100m backstroke with a time of 1:05.30 and 200m butterfly in 2:20.25 to finish eighth in the final.

Experienced swimmer Lauren Hanson,18, competed in all the 50m sprints and qualified for two finals. She was sixth in the 50m backstroke in 31.56 and ninth in the 50m backstroke.

Ten-year-old Jack Jenkinson capped his NER debut by taking seventh place in the boys 11/12 years 50m freestyle in 30.86 seconds.

Matthew Kenneth age 16 swam the 200m butterfly in 2:28.00, 200m breaststroke in 2:43.19 and 100m breaststroke in 1:19.97.

Sam King, 15, swam the 50m backstroke in a time of 32.53.

Fifteen-year-old Luke Midgley competed in 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:42.55, 100m breaststroke in 1:13.59 and finally 200m individual medley with a time of 2:29.13.

Thirteen-year-old Fenn Curran swam 50m freestyle in 29.40 and 100m free in 1:105.81.

Ellen Wright qualified for 50m breaststroke and swam it in 37.85 seconds. She also swam 100m breaststroke in a time of 1.26.93.

Several Skipton swimmers were also competing in their first Long Course North East Regional competition.

Paige Fenton competed in an impressive eight events,Will Oliver and Harvey Pennington three, and Charlotte Leigh one.
