BRONTE Wheelers' Wednesday evening race was the daunting 38km hilly time trial which is a real all-round test of a rider's ability.
Starting at Skipton, the route took the cyclists to Bolton Abbey up to Grassington and returning to Skipton with 2,000ft of climbing.
There was a nagging south-easterly wind which made the outward leg to Bolton Abbey difficult but could not blunt the speed of Bronte’s Steven Ayers.
He clocked an incredible time and new course record of 56min 19secs. In second place, and also clocking a course personal best, was Bronte’s Darren Caines in a time of 60min 47secs and third was Pendle Forest’s Russell Marsden with a time of 62min 2secs.
