SKIPTON Golf Club’s junior match play final saw Hannah Eaton pitched against Ben Topper.

A close encounter was always on the cards with both players being match-play specialists and so it proved.

Eaton, fresh from her dramatic Ladies Scratch Championship win when she came from five down to triumph 5&3, Eaton took the early lead but a birdie four at the second by Topper set the tone for the front nine holes.

Both players traded holes with neither able to make a decisive breakthrough.

On the tenth tee Topper had the advantage at one up but Eaton won the hole and the 11th to take the lead.

It was a, advantage she held never surrendered. Playing some excellent golf she eventually closed out the match 3&1.

Skipton had two members in the final 32 of the Yorkshire Amateur Matchplay Championship finals in the shape of Max Berrisford and Brook Coward.

Unfortunately, both had the misfortune of being in the same half of the draw as eventual winner Alex Fitzpatrick who is showing the potential to be every bit as good as his tour player brother Matthew.

Coward sadly met him the first round but Berrisford managed to reach the quarter-finals before coming up against him losing out in a tight contest.
