WEST CRAVEN High School’s girls’ badminton team returned from Lancashire county finals with silver medals after some outstanding performances.
Sarah Oddie and Daisy Hill, both 15, and Martha Kennedy and Amelia Lyle, both aged 16, travelled to Blackpool to compete against nine other schools.
The West Craven girls came second in the first round, progressing to the semi-finals to play the winners of the other group, St Bede’s from Blackburn. They won three out of their five games to progress to the final of the competition against Hodgson Academy from Poulton-le-Fylde.
Here, they were just pipped, winning two out of their five matches to be crowned runners-up in the tournament.
Danielle Mullen, PE teacher at the Barnoldswick-based school, said: “The girls demonstrated real West Craven spirit throughout the tournament.
"They were really determined and resilient in all of their matches and put in a fantastic performance. Their silver medals were very much deserved and we are very proud of them all.”
