SETTLE Golf Club were forced to put the captains' drive in back an hour on Sunday when Mike Elstub forgot to put his clocks forward.
The seniors captain no doubt got a light-hearted ticking off from his colleagues before arriving on the tee.
After the drive in the members took part in a team Texas Scramble which resulted in some close results at the top of the leaderboard.
The winning team was led by the men's captain, Stephen Robinson, who together with team members John Lassey, Christine Mercer and Margaret Eccleston, just held off the challenge of the pre-competition favourites Ray Jones, Peter Morton, Frankie Eccleston and Carol Knowles.
The senior section of the club start their competitive season with a fixture against Lansil. Elstub will be hoping for a successful start and has promised to arrive on time.
