THE Stelvio Trophy Trial always pulls good entries and a wet Sunday at Cockhill Mines was no exception where 90 riders of all ages converged on the Nidderdale venue to compete for the title, organised by Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club.

Leeds builder Liam Walker aced Ben Hemingway and local Sherco rider Danny Gamble to take the silverware while Liversedge civil engineer Jamie Stephenson excelled in the rain to take Clubman A from Anthony Ayrton and Harry Hemingway.

Harrogate sawmill and garden centre proprietor Robert Hardisty stormed Clubman B on a single figure leaving Falcon runner Ian Haigh and in-form Howard Gulley in his wake.

A total of 23 small wheelers rode their own four lap six section course. The older boys competed on tougher sections where Ellis Barton and Jonnie Fannon shared the top spot.

The younger girls and boys navigated the water and steep banks further downstream. Aiden Richardson and Charlie Skehan were the star performers there.

A day earlier, 44 Bradford Motor Club members headed west to Manor House Farm in Glusburn to contest the third trial in the Manywells Winter club championship series.

The 'winter' title was a misnomer in Airedale on Saturday where the sun shone and the breeze was gentle. Thirteen riders opted for the hard course where Steve Farrington was the winner on just four penalties.

Anthony Scott went one better in middle course class losing one mark in section three on lap two. The easy route yielded another low score with Tom Addyman finishing on five penalties.

This Saturday sees the Novice & Beginners trial for Yeadon-Guiseley Motor Club members at Emmott's Farm in Silsden at 2pm.

On Sunday, the Neath M.C.R.T Keedwell British Trials Championship takes place at Aberdulais at 9:30am while Richmond Motor Club have trials at Carperby Green at 11am.
