Organisers are urging fans to turn out in force for Cougars stalwart James Feather’s testimonial match next month.

The current Keighley squad will take on a team comprised of great names from past Cougar sides on Sunday, December 15 (2pm) to honour the club’s popular number nine ‘Buster’.

Many favourites are clam-ouring to be part of the ‘Cougar All-Stars’, coached by Paul Moses, who will doubtless want to give today’s stars a reminder of the Cougarmania days.

Feather’s career started 20 years ago as an eight-year-old on the wing for Cougar Cubs before Moses signed him for the Cougars Academy as a 17-year-old. He soon graduated to the first team under Barry Eaton and has played over 200 games for the club in the last eight years.

Other clubs have come in for him but Feather has stayed loyal to his home-town side, even leading Cougars to Grand Final glory in 2009 with a broken cheek bone!

David Kirkley, who is on his testimonial committee, said: “One thing about Buster which comes across is his gratitude to be able to play for Cougars. He says if he had just turned out once for the club he would have been happy.”

Entry to his match is £10 adults and £5 concessions, while young-sters 16 and under are free.

Cougars’ Danny Jones made his first appearance of the World Cup for Wales when he played at stand-off in their final match, which saw them lose 28-24 to the Cook Islands. Jones kicked one conversion.

Cougars will play a pre-season friendly against Batley Bulldogs on February 9 (3pm) at a venue to be confirmed.
