Victoria Rangers 68 Cowling Harlequins 6

THIS was a game to forget for the Harlequins as a young Victoria Rangers side inflicted a second-successive defeat on them.

Despite having a full team, Harlequins were unable to quell the lively attacking play of their hosts.

Rangers capitalised on missed tackles to open the scoring but Quins came to life after new signing James Wildman Archer produced a try-saving tackle.

Chris Spencer surprised Victoria with a try after good work by Craig Nicholson, who added the conversion.

The home side were soon back in command and established a 30-6 half-time lead.

Chris Ashworth, Ben Pickles and Jay Bingham battled hard to keep the Quins in the game.

They weren't helped by losing hooker Antony Packer with a shoulder injury and Karl Hanicouk with a broken wrist in the second half as Rangers pulled further away.

Now the quins need to regroup for Saturday's home game with Clayton A at Burgess Fields (2.30pm).
