Guiseley Rangers 4 Keighley Albion 34

The scoreline does not demonstrate the one-sided nature of this contest, with Albion in complete control throughout against a spirited Guiseley outfit.

Keighley scored off their first set when top performer Mark Smith's break led to Gav Wild backing up to score.

Great backline play led to Alex Young crossing out wide before loose play gave the home side territory and possession but the visitors' rearguard held firm.

Jack Kennedy was next over when he crashed through a number of would-be tacklers before Reece Robertson's superb burst allowed Jamie Hodgson to add try number four before the break.

Albion struggled to get going at the beginning of the second period and both teams were a man down after a mass brawl saw Rick Hollings and a Guiseley player dismissed.

The home side then opened their account before the visitors regained control. First, Kennedy's powerful surge led to Albion spreading the play for Alfie Seeley to cross and then further good play out wide allowed Ben Benfield to touch down.

Fittingly it was Smith who had the final say, running a superb line to latch on to a Danny Bowness flat pass to cap a fine display.

Albion will look to keep the momemtum going when they entertain Queensbury B in their first cup game of the season.

Cowling Harlequins 56 Clayton A 0

Harlequins bounced back from two poor games to blitz bottom club Clayton A at Burgess Fields.

Great work by Scott Cunningham got the ball to full back Liam Kelly and he coasted in for the first of his double, with Kelly also adding five conversions from six attempts.

It was not long until Danny Whittaker powered over. Craig Nicholson missed the goal attempt but made up for this with two quickfire tries, Cunningham converting both.

From the restart, Chris Ashworth and Brian Vincent made great yards up the field for captain Jay Bingham to hit an angle and go under the sticks, leaving Cowling in full control.

It was 24-0 at the interval and Bingham soon went in for his second try.

Winger Matt Salisbury then sprinted in for his first-ever Cowling try, a feat matched by Mark Uschakow.

Chris Spencer also went over, Ash Wood kicking the extra two points.

Next up for Harlequins is a trip to play Wyke A on Saturday.
