Eastmoor Dragons 22 Keighley Albion 19

ALBION were involved in a tight League Cup encounter against Wakefield side Eastmoor Dragons and were unlucky to lose out in the dying minutes of the game.

Man of the match Chris Price had got Albion off to a great start after breaking the Eastmoor line with one of his typical barnstorming runs. Cal Hudson added the goal.

Albion’s cause wasn’t helped with the early loss through injury of Josh Ireland and Mark Smith, while the lack of regular games in the last few weeks seemed to have left Albion a little rusty. They put the ball down on a number of occasions to gift Eastmoor easy possession in the Albion half.

Eastmoor were able to capitalise and went over for a converted try to level before Alfie Seeley read the next Eastmoor attack brilliantly as he was able to intercept a pass and run 60 metres to touch down under the Eastmoor posts. Hudson again added the goal.

Eastmoor continued to press and Alex Young put in a try saving-tackle to deny Eastmoor but more lost possession from Albion gave the hosts good field position and they again went over for a converted to level the scores.

Jak Adams darted through the gap to score after the break, Hudson adding the extras, but Eastmoor were next over the line with a converted try to level once more.

With the light fading fast, Albion tried to seal it with Seeley just seeing his drop goal drift wide before Cal Hudson popped up on the next Albion foray into the Eastmoor half to drop the goal and give Albion a one-point lead with only a minute to go.

The referee somehow found an extra ten minutes, and when Eastmoor broke through a tiring Albion defence they scored the match-clinching try.

Albion are at home to Guiseley this weekend, kick-off 2pm at Crossflatts.
