Cowling Harlequins Juniors 4 Wyke Juniors 44

The junior Quins took to the field for their first-ever game against a well-established Wyke side.

Reegan Rushworth scored the maiden try for Cowling, racing down the touchline past three or four Wyke defenders to score in the corner.

There was great running from Kamron Rushworth, Corey Verity and William Haniocuk and great tackling by Bradley Foulds and Dylan Carter.

It was a top effort by all and shows the future is bright for the Quins club.

Top tackler: Bradley Foulds; top drives: William Haniocuk and Kamron Rushworth; man of match: Reegan Rushworth.

Odsal Sedbergh u-10s 64 Keighley Albion u-10s 26

Albion got their season underway with their first friendly at Odsal Sedbergh.

This season sees new rules come in for under-ten teams, in which they will now be kicking with scrums and conversions – as well as the size of the pitch increasing. Unfortunately the Odsal team were the more comfortable team with the changes.

After 15 minutes of Albion trying hard to stay in the game, the constant attacking out wide was too much for the Keighley boys to handle as the hosts used the width of the pitch to their advantage.

Ellis Sands (2), Lucas Evans (2) and Jake Bartlam scored Albion tries, with conversions by Robson Weir and Jake Bartlam.

Man of match: Joe Priestley; opposition man of match: Jimmy Young; top tackler: Lucas Evans; most improved: Finlay Lynam; magic moment: Jake Bartlam.
