Elland u-11s 34 Keighley Albion u-11s 12

Albion could only muster a team of 11 and were down to nine with injuries to Riley Corby and Caleb McConville for a large proportion of the game. Despite this, the visitors battled gamely but Elland exploited their lack of numbers. An error led to the hosts taking the lead but Albion responded when a set move saw Ben McParland through on a crash ball, McConville converting.

However, Corby and McConville departed not long afterwards and the hosts built a 24-6 half-time lead. A rout looked on the cards but Albion, boosted by McConville’s return, put some good phases together and McParland wrestled his way through a number of tacklers before sprinting clear to score his second, which McConville converted.

Elland had the last word with a try but Albion are confident of a return to winning ways. McParland took home the opposition’s award for a super all round effort, with similar fantastic displays from Jack Loughtman (parents award), Kearn Weatherill (players player) and Lewis Bloodworth (magic moment for an amazing five tackles in one set).

Keighley Albion u-13s 34 Stanningley u-13s 4

Keighley had things pretty much their own way against Stanningley to run in seven tries. Leading 20-0 at half-time, Harry Webster completed his hat-trick and, with other tries by Josh Charnock (2), Alex Downes and Matty Smith, it was the perfect response to the previous week’s 38-16 loss to Hunslet Parkside.

Match awards went to Ciaren Bartlett, Tom Crocket, Will Hartley and Harry Webster, with the conversions shared between Ben Shaw (2) and Zak Blackburn as Albion look to find a regular kicker.
