Keighley Albion u-13s 26 East Leeds u-13s 40

IN AN entertaining game of 13 tries, Keighley were left to rue an opening 16 minutes when they were just not at the races.

The Albion defence had no answer in this period to some strong running by East Leeds, who built up a commanding 20-0 lead which was always likely to prove crucial.

To their credit Albion then clawed their way back with some enterprising play. Converted tries from Ciaran Bartlett, Harry Webster and Edward Croft reduced the deficit to 26-18 early in the second half.

The threat posed by the visitors, however, was ever-present and when Josh Charnock and Xander McConville added further tries for Albion late on East Leeds already had the game in the bag.

Match awards were won by Webster, Ben Shaw, Billy Addy and Matty Smith.

Heworth u-11s 0 Keighley Albion u-11s 32

Keighley backed up the previous week’s crushing 74-0 victory with another superb win.

Despite having to start with two men short, the visitors racked up two tries in the first half from Ben McParland and Lewis Bloodworth, with Caleb McConville adding the conversion.

Starting the second half, Albion were up to full strength, with Riley Corby making an immediate impact by going close. On the next set Keighley were over with McParland at the double again and Bloodworth added his second with a great show and go before showing terrific strength to dot down under the sticks, McConville and Josh Dickerson converting.

Keighley added further gloss with Corby waltzing through the defence and Reece Smollen touched down from acting half after a superb breakout from Evan Jones and McConville.

McParland received the opposition’s award, with the parents prize going to the returning Harry Fry and captain Tyler Moyles receiving the player’s player accolade.

Following big drives by Josh Thompson and a smart delayed offload by Josh Catton, Phil Sabin opened the scoring for Albion.

Seth Benn dragged several Tigers across the line with him to touch down and give Albion a deserved lead.

Garforth responded to even the score before the break.

Soon into the second half, Benn crashed through to score a superb solo effort, Catton converting his second. The game was sealed when Marcus Scargill scored late on.

Keighley Albion u-10s 26 Illingworth u-10s 0

Albion youngsters really shaped up in defence to lock out Illingworth and secure their first win of the season.

Noel Durkin, James Gray and Lucas Evans made some great individual tackles, with Finlay Lynam also working overtime to take the top tackler award.

Jimmy Young (magic moment) got forwards Durkin, Evans and Lynam making the hard yards and was also making ground himself with some telling scoots from acting half.

With Sammy Wild and Gray also putting in some great runs, it wasn't long before Lucas Evans broke clear to score the first of his hat trick.

With Harry Benn, Simon Hudson and Jack Waddington also getting in on the act, the platform was set for Gray (most improved) and man of the match Noel Durkin (2) to cross before Evans crossed twice to complete his hat-trick. Evans added the bonus of a conversion to round off the scoring. Albion are away at Dewsbury Celtic this week.

Odsal Sedbergh u-8s 16 Keighley Albion u-8s 28

Albion's first-half performance was outstanding, their defence kept Sedbergh scoreless with Sonnie Anderson shining.

Benjamin Horsfield scored a first-half hat-trick and a Hamza Butt score gave Albion a 16-0 half-time lead.

Playing up hill in the second half, it was a tougher affair and Sedbergh scored four second-half tries. But Jack Throup and one more each for Horsfield and Butt gave Albion a suberb away win.
