Keighley Albion u-13s 0 Doncaster Toll Bar u-13s 38

With players missing through injury and unavailability, Albion’s game against leaders Toll Bar, who they had previously beaten in both league and cup, turned into a damage limitation exercise once 24 points had been shipped by the interval.

With this modest aim they largely succeeded and twice actually came within a whisker of getting on the scoresheet.

Nathan Dickinson was held up after crossing the line, then Tom Crocket’s touchdown was ruled out for a forward pass.

Match awards, after a difficult day at the office, went to Xander McConville, Nathan Dickinson and Edward Croft (2).

Albion made a scrappy start to this top of the table clash, having to defend for the first four sets.

Nerves were settled when Kian Armstrong scored from a great offload from Phil Sabin. Seth Benn scored after breaking through the defence which Lewis Reynoldson converted to give Albion a 10-0 lead at half-time.

Tommy Lowrey came close before Benn scored again. This opened the floodgates for Albion which saw Sabin score from close range closely followed over by Joel Oxford's pacy try.

Sam Lewis Gillum led the defence in the usual manner which led to a kick chase from Reynoldson and an offload to give Armstrong his second of the game. Josh Catton converted to close the game out.

Keighley Albion u-11s 24 Heworth u-11s 0

Albion sprung into life after a slow start when a great passing move down the line saw Caleb McConville streak clear from halfway to score under the posts and add the conversion.

Keighley upped the intensity in the second half but were lacking in their fluidity due to not setting up as they should.

Heworth did not enjoy the same territorial advantage as they did in the first stanza and it wasn’t long before McConville sliced through the last line to add his second try and conversion.

Ben McParland broke the line before a couple of steps saw him go clear under the sticks, leaving McConville an easy conversion. The icing was put on the cake when McParland, despite the attention of numerous defenders, muscled his way over the line with McConville adding the extras again.
