Pennine League Division Three West: Worth Village 48 Hollinwood 16

Worth cruised to victory in their first home league game of the season against Hollinwood from Oldham.

Rob Spencer put Kris Gott in at the corner to open the scoring before Joe Buckley touched down after some great running from Dale Spencer and Luke Moorby.

Village let Hollinwood score a couple of tries before Spencer scored the first of his two tries as Village led 16-10 at the break.

The hosts came strong in the second half, with Sean Cole scoring in the corner within a minute of kicking off. This then lead the way for Ross Knowles to put Moorby in for two tries, with Gott kicking the conversions. Hollinwood struggled to keep Worth away from the try line, with Jason Dovestone and man of the match Dan Connell both scoring.

Hollinwood added a late try but another score for Spencer saw Worth end comfortable winnners.

Worth Village also competed in the Danny Kelly Memorial 9s tournament at Cougar Park on Sunday and made it to the final before losing to local rivals Keighley Albion.

Worth Village play Newsome Panthers at Marley at 2:30pm this Saturday.
