Worth Village 4 Clayton 42

DEPLETED Worth Village ran out of steam against leaders Clayton after a battling first-half display.

The Keighley side trailed just 10-4 at the break, second rower Andrew Norton powering over on a rare outing for the team due to his army commitments.

Worth had held their own at that stage but, with no substitutes, they ran out of steam as Clayton turned the screw.

Steve Housecroft came off the bench to post a brace, while stand-off Scott Pendlebury, sub Phil Redgrave plus props John Parkinson and Jamie Waterman also made the chalk, leaving marksman centre Ryan Wilkinson to add six goals and a touchdown.

Joe Copperwaite was outstanding for Worth at scrum half and prop Joe Hall also caught the eye.

Worth are due to visit Newsome Panthers on Saturday.

Silsden's clash at home to Mirfield Stags in Division Four West was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
