Yorkshire Junior League Continuation Cup final: Keighley Albion u-13s 24 Beeston Broncos u-13s 16

ALBION survived a late comeback to win this pulsating final and earn the junior club's first silverware.

Emerging on to the pitch at Featherstone Rovers' ground to rapturous applause, they wasted no time asserting their dominance over their league rivals.

Looking well drilled and confident, Keighley's half-backs Josh Catton and Joe Walsh used the wide playing area to stretch their opponents.

Making the most of the space created, Joel Oxford tore through the Beeston defence to open his account.

Sam Johnstone and Seth Benn added to the tally with superbly-crafted tries before Oxford bagged his second.

Lewis Reynoldson added to the scoreline with superb conversions before Broncos clawed one back just before the break.

Beeston hit the ground running in the second half as another try opened the game up. Albion suddenly found themselves on the back foot and fighting to stop victory slipping away from them.

Liam Evans, Kian Armstrong and Sam Lewis Gillum threw themselves at the big Beeston runners to stem the fightback.

However, two more Bronco tries followed in quick succession. It had become a true test of Keighley character and Albion drove back up field in numbers.

Phil Sabin and Toby Stephens both came close to scoring before Marcus Scargill, in a moment of brilliant opportunism, sealed the victory in style.

As the final whistle blew, Albion players, coaches and supporters erupted in celebration.

Coach Paul Catton said: "It is the first time in Keighley Albion Juniors' history that we've won a trophy. We're really proud of the achievement."
