Callum 'CJ' Mynott Memorial Match: Keighley Albion 64 West Bowling A 8

ALBION, fielding a very young side, the majority of whom were former team-mates of Callum, who died last October aged 17 from cancer, ran in 12 tries as they demolished their opponents.

There was an emotional minute's applause in his memory last Sunday before the kick-off and, perhaps inspired by this and a large crowd, Albion ignored the hot weather and started with pace and aggression.

With second-rowers Morgan Robinson and Connor Murphy setting the tone in the pack, CJ's brother Danny fittingly began the scoring with a try in the corner.

Almost straight from the kick-off, Albion scored again via man of the match Alex Young, Connor Meegan converting for 10-0 after only eight minutes.

The floodgates then opened as the Keighley side showed skill, aggression and, most of all passion, as they raced into a 32-0 lead at half-time via tries by Jake Gray, Adam Moor, Henry Brown and Josh Robertshaw, plus a further three conversions from Connor Meegan.

West Bowling started the second half brightly, scoring after five minutes, but; Albion again upped the intensity and added six more tries from Gray, Robinson (2), Ben Benfield, Ben Underwood and Kieron Blakeley, with conversions from Underwood, Finn Meegan (2) and Connor Meegan.

This was a fantastic result for CJ’s friends and family and the club, with money raised for the family's chosen charity, CLIC Sargent.
