Keighley Albion u-13s 6 Stanningley u-13s 50

ALBION were outclassed by a Stanningley side, who are currently third in the u-13s top division, in this Yorkshire Juniors Challenge Cup tie.

The hosts fought hard to the end and never gave in despite the obvious gulf in class. It all started very ominously with the visitors scoring off their first two sets.

However, Albion were looking industrious with the ball without ever being able to make a significant dent in Stanningley’s brutal defence. Albion’s cause was not helped with injuries and illness, denying them the ability to rotate players.

After conceding a third try, a cross-field kick was fumbled by the visitors and the ball made its way just before half way to Matt Tindale, whose strength and power saw him charge half the length of the pitch, with new boy Harrison Clamp confidently adding the extras.

Stanningley added a fourth just before the break and it was one-way traffic in the second half, with the visitors' superb stand-off adding further tries to finish with four.

Keighley found it tough trying to defend against a team in the division above. They were also guilty of giving up possession but they stretched the visitors near the close without crossing the whitewash.

There were still some great efforts in a losing cause, with the visitors nominating Ben McParland, Caleb McConville and Zak Ensink as their standouts.
