Wharfedale are hoping they can continue to play a big part in the development of exciting young player Taylor Prell.

The England under-18 international is on Leeds Carnegie’s books and coach John Feeley would love to have the young flyer in his National League One squad next season.

The 18-year-old from Gargrave, who currently attend Giggleswick School, made his senior debut for Wharfedale last season.

His blistering pace and try-scoring abilities were clear to see. Feeley said: “He is going to be a fine player. He has the abilkity to beat players and knows where the try line is.

“I hope Leeds allow him to continue to gain experience with us. It would be a great honour to play a part in helping him develop as a player here alongside his brother Josh. I have no doubt he will do well in the game,”

Last weekend Taylor Prell joined Wharfedale colleagues Aaron Myers and Phil Woodhead to help Suzuki Wailers to glory in stage three of the GB7s at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay last weekend.

Pacy Leeds Carnegie's Junior Academy Player of the Year Prell scored a try in the final, as did Ben Frankland and Hamish Smailes as Samurai were beaten 21-14 by the North East invitational side, despite having the so-called fastest man in rugby in their ranks in American Carlin Isles.

The Wailers defeated the British Army 28-21 in the semi-finals after winning their group with victories over the Irish Exiles 26-15, Crawshays Welsh 31-19 and Samurai 26-17, the latter progressing as group runners-up

It ends a fantastic season for Prell, who helped England to FIRA-AER European Championship glory and starred for Wharfedale in SSE National League One and the Yorkshire Cup, which they won by defeating Otley at Bradford & Bingley.
