Keighley u-10s 0, Skipton u-10s 17

AFTER a comfortable win against their local rivals at the Baildon festival the previous week, the young Reds travelled to Keighley confident of a positive result.

Things started well, with Aidan Perry scoring straight from the whistle, and Skipton soon found themselves four tries up as Thomas Knight, Reuben Johnson and John Lambert all touched down in quick succession.

Keighley were repeatedly forced back by a determined Skipton defence.

The Reds continued to dominate possession and share out the tries, with Donnabhan Rudden, Alfie Price and Harry Woodhead scoring to stretch the lead to seven at half-time.

It was more of the same after the interval, with powerful running from Sid Holden and the quick feet of James Kitson and Jake Brown making it ten tries from ten different scorers for the Reds.

Keighley's heads were starting to drop but the visitors were in no mood for charity and went on scoring freely.

Three more tries for Lambert and a brace apiece for Knight and Kitson rounded off a comprehensive victory.

This was a complete team performance by the Skipton boys and certainly bodes well for the rest of the season.

Keighley u-9s 7, Skipton u-9s 9

SKIPTON continued their winning start to the season with a close-fought victory over local rivals Keighley.

Ed Whitlam kept up his scoring rate from the previous week, with some neat footwork twice taking him over the line early on.

William Heron also touched down but Keighley were matching the Reds try for try.

George Fryers, making a welcome return to the team, reminded everyone of his pace with a score to keep things level at half-time.

Skipton tightened things up in defence in the second half, with Lilyanna Woodhead putting in a superb tackling stint.

Whitlam continued scoring for fun, ending up with six tries in total, and as the Reds pulled ahead, Joseph Parker waded through most of Keighley team to score and seal a good win.

Stanley Wilkinson picked up the man of the match award for his tireless work rate throughout.
