Foresters 45 Blaydon 2nds 19

WHENEVER the Foresters turn out a team as strong the one they fielded on Saturday they are difficult to beat and so it proved yet again.

The Blaydon club are proud of the exploits of their second 15 but on this occasion the home side were just too strong for them.

Wharfedale made a fine start and established a comfortable lead with well-worked tries from Alex Powell and Tom Whyte which were both converted by James Druce.

The front row of Joe Altham, Jake Parkinson and Matt Foreman dominated the scrums and the pressure led to another for Whyte which was converted by Druce.

At this stage infringements affected the home side's flow and Blaydon came back with a deserved try and conversion.

Wharfedale's pack quickly regained control and from a powerful drive scrum half Jimmy Bullough touched down with Druce adding the extras.

Fly half Will Bell had a first class game, both in defence and attack. He assisted in the next try with a shrewd kick over the defence allowing Harry Bullough to show a fine turn of foot to score.

Druce converted and added to his points total with the next Greens try, after good positive attacking skills from the backs.

The final try came from Robbie Davidson who scampered through the visiting defence for another clinically worked try.

Speedster Josh Prell, on the wing, never really got the chance to show his true prowess and centres Andrew Foulds and Harry Bullough were always in the heart of any back moves. The latter also tackled to some effect.
