On Boxing Day the Foresters play host to North Ribblesdale in the traditional holiday fixture, one of the highlights of the season, when old friends meet to blow away the Christmas excesses.

The visitors’ season is not going well, as they sit at the foot of Yorkshire One, but they always play well against the Foresters, and they will be hoping that another good performance will launch a much more successful second half of the season.

The Foresters, on the other hand, are having a royal season, with maximum points coming from all their league matches, and wins over BUCS challengers, the universities of Leeds, Leeds Met and Loughborough, as well as Yorkshire Under 20s; their only defeat, at Darlington Mowden Park, was avenged last week by 17-12.

The Wharfedale management takes the opportunity to give game time to the returning Simon Willet, the lock who sustained an injured shoulder in October but whose recovery was set back by a car crash. The replacements include promising colts Ben Booth and Marcus Farnworth.
