SKIPTON RFC are to host a match against the Bumble Gooders at Sandylands next Friday, kick off 7.30pm, in preparation for the first Mixed Ability Rugby World Tournament.

The Bumble Gooders are a mixed team of able-bodied players and people with learning and physical disabilities, based at Bradford & Bingley Rugby Club.

They were formed in 2009 and were England's first mixed ability team. They have also assisted in setting up other mixed ability sides in the region and in Northern Ireland. They play a full contact game, in an effort to engender social inclusion.

The first Mixed Ability Rugby World Tournament, which has the full backing of the RFU, runs from the August 17-21 and will be held at Bradford & Bingley Rugby Club, Wagon Lane, Bingley.

The Bumble Gooders are aiming to raise £50,000 to provide accommodation and hospitality at the University of Bradford for 400 disabled and able-bodied players.

Entrance to the match at Sandylands is £2. Food and drink will be available and there will be a raffle with prizes donated by the local community. All proceeds will go to the Bumble Gooders.
