Mosborough 5 Skipton 36

SKIPTON returned from their latest trip to South Yorkshire with a six-try victory over their Yorkshire Four rivals.

The Reds won the toss and opted to play into the wind in the first half. Hard work in an early maul by forwards Harry McEneaney and Chris Wright paved the way for the opening score.

Their efforts ensured Skipton won the put in at the ensuing scrum from where the ball was moved sweetly down the back line for full back Matty Langstaff and winger Josh Berrey to put second row Aaron Walker over in the corner.

Despite the difficult conditions, stand-off Jake Duxbury's conversion attempt was successful as Skipton established an early 7-0 lead.

Walker was straight back into the action with a superb take from the restart. He carried the ball down the field before off loading to Langstaff who sent centre Luke Stockton racing in for the second try.

From the re-start a solid Skipton scrum gave the backs possession and a well placed kick by Duxbury into the corner gave the visitors good field position.

A series of infringements by both sides then disrupted play with the home side eventually being awarded a penalty which they were unable to convert.

Skipton responded with their third try. Centre Jon Currie made an interception and ran 50 yards before putting Jake Duxbury over. Duxbury added the extra points to stretch the lead.

Just before half-time, quick hands from the scrum through Duxbury and Langstaff put Berrey in for the visitors' fourth try, securing the bonus league point. Skipton led 24-0 at the break.

Skipton kicked off with the wind behind them for the second period and took advantage of the increasingly blustery conditions.

A scrum was taken against the head by skipper Chris Sheehan. He put the back line away but winger Jack McLeod was adjudged to have put a foot in touch in the corner.

Harassing by wing forward Charlie Brown at the line-out put the Mosborough defence in disarray. At the resulting ruck No 8 Ben Hall dived over on a loose ball to secure Skipton's fifth try. Duxbury again added the extra points.

Coach Dave Duxbury made some changes, with Zak Bullock coming on at hooker, Harry Maltby in the second row and Stuart Barraclough at scrum half. All made an immediate impact with excellent tackling from Bullock, well won ball in the maul from Maltby and quick hands from Barraclough putting Duxbury over for the visitors' sixth try.

A penalty to Mosborough gave their forwards some welcome possession, but stoic defence by Skipton kept them out. Duxbury received a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on and from the resultant penalty the Mosborough forwards went over for a consolation try with a few minutes of the game remaining.
