IT IS okay to make the odd mistake in life but the real problem comes when those errors are repeated.

And not erring in the same way that they did in their 27-15 home defeat to Rosslyn Park just under a fortnight ago will give Wharfedale a much better chance of winning a vital National League One home match on Saturday against Loughborough Students.

The Greens gave Park fly half Scott Sneddon the opportunity to run the show in the second half by pinning them in their 22, and Wharfedale's head coach Jon Feeley said: "We got out of the initial situations but then showed naivety and made some rash choices in allowing them to kick the ball deep into our corners.

"We must make the message clear from the coaches to the players, and we must not make the same mistakes on the pitch this weekend."

Wharfedale are third from bottom and in the highest of the three relegation places with 35 points from 23 matches, while the students are one point and one place better off having played a game less.

Feeley said: "This weekend isn't a must-win game but it is important to win your home matches."

There was no first-team game last weekend, giving Feeley the chance for a break, and he said: "There are seven league matches left until the end of the season, but even though I have the most understanding wife in the world in Julia, it was important to spend some hours with the family."

There was no rest for the second team, however, who won 40-14 at Tynedale Raiders in the Northern Pilot League.

Feeley said: "Historically, Tynedale are tough opponents down the teams, but I have had very positive feedback from our coaches.

"The match gave us the chance to give Josh Burridge, Ian Larkin and Dan Solomi some game-time, and for other players who are close to the first team to see what they need to aspire to."
