Wharfedale u17s 31 Sheffield u17s 10

WHARFEDALE Under-17s put in a fine team performance to dismantle their Sheffield counterparts 31-10 in the Yorkshire Cup final earlier this month at Bradford & Bingley RFC.

Oscar Canny crossed the whitewash for a brace of tries, and further great teamwork was rewarded with tries from Maddison Hunting and Louis Verity.

All of the tries were converted by Verity and he also added a penalty to put an emphatic look on the scoreline.

Dale played with great continuity and control in attack throughout and deserved their scores but their outstanding defence and work rate, especially from the indomitable Joe Myers, meant that they were tough to break down at the other end too.

Sheffield remained without a try until the last play of the game, which they converted to at least give themselves some consolation.

Dale dominated the scoreboard and they were strong with their set-pieces too, with excellent work in the scrum and the line-out.

They looked delighted as they posed with the trophy after the match, with muddy shirts, shorts and socks proving that they had to fight hard in order to secure victory in the showpiece event.

The club were keen to express their gratitude towards staff and supporters that have been involved with the club throughout the season, with everyone contributing to this fantastic finale.
