The Yorkshire RFU have cancelled their three major knockout competitions due to the bad weather.

The decision to scrap the Yorkshire Cup, Yorkshire Shield and Yorkshire Silver Trophy was announced in a statement on the their website on Wednesday.

It said: "At a Competitions Committee meeting held today (Tuesday), the committee has regretfully concluded that owing to adverse weather conditions and the outstanding league, promotion/relegation games and play-off fixtures, all of the three Yorkshire Cup Competitions for season 2012-2013 are cancelled.

"We regret that this decision has had to be made but it is proving very difficult to arrange fixtures at this time of the year.

"For season 2013-2014 a circular will shortly be sent out to clubs inviting them to join the Cup Competitions."

The decision brings to an end any hopes North Ribblesdale had of winning the Yorkshire Shield and qualifying for the RFU Intermediate Cup which has its final at Twickenham.

They were through to the quarter finals where they were waiting to play the Yorkshire Division One leaders Huddersfield YMCA.
