Bradford Salem 50 Skipton 0

After last week’s Rorke’s Drift encounter against league leaders Doncaster Phoenix, Skipton entered the Lion's den at Salem and took a real mauling.

Within two minutes Salem scored a try on the right wing which was unconverted. and that set the tone for a miserable afternoon for Skipton’s loyal supporters.

Skipton’s only chance to put any points on the board in the first half was a missed penalty by captain Darren Howson.

The Salem pack were far too good for Skipton who were pushed off at every scrum.

The line-outs were not much better and by half-time Skipton were 31-0 down and staring a heavy defeat in the face.8 The second half continued in the same vein with the Salem backs running Skipton ragged.

In the 80th minute Salem scored a converted try to complete a 50-0 whitewash.

Overall a bad day for the Skipton followers going away dejected after a lot of missed tackles and bad clearance kicks but this Skipton team are capable of good things which will hopefully come after the Christmas break.

Despite being 16 points adrift of third bottom Moortown, with just nine points from 14 games, Skipton are not giving up the fight.

They will keep trying and hopefully get some wins under their belt in the New Year as they bid to avoid dropping into Yorkshire Division Three.
