Ossett 12 Skipton 29

Skipton bounced back to winning ways with a comfortable away victory at Ossett on Saturday.

It was clear from the start that they were keen to put things right but the execution and precision were lacking.

Whilst the effort and endeavour were there in the first half, calmness and composure were absent.

In what turned out to be less than a classic period of play, the team turned around at half-time 12-7 in front after playing up the slope, with tries form James Ackers and Matty Langstaff.

The second half started with Ossett exerting a sustained period of pressure through their forwards which lead to a try by one of their locks.

At this point Skipton decided they wanted to play and scored a well-worked team try finished by Langstaff.

Whilst keen to collect the bonus point, skipper Ryan Binner opted to take an easy three which effectively closed the game.

With a few minutes remaining it was left to Langstaff to chip his man and touch down under the posts for his third try.

The man of the match was James Lockhart for his work rate in the back row, whilst a strong debut performance was given by new signing John Currie in the centre.

Skipton now have a week off from league rugby to fine tune before their next Division Four encounter against coach Mark Walton's former club Halifax.
