Sheffield Oaks 29 Skipton 46
SKIPTON won their fourth match on the bounce away at Sheffield Oaks in the shadow of Hillsborough stadium and within earshot of the roar of 24,000 fans!
Playing down the slope in the first half the rejuvenated Oaks side threw everything but the kitchen sink at Skipton and with visitors' defence struggling the home side built up a deserved 15-3 lead going into half-time.
Turning round for the second half, Skipton knew that they were still in the contest and, game plan issues having been addressed during the break, the visitors started to find their shape and form.
a very entertaining half of rugby Skipton pushed and drove, clawing back point after point, before eventually going into the lead and pulling away.
Most valuable player was Luke Currie for his overall dynamic play but there were many other strong performances from the Skipton side, and an individual points tally of 21 for skipper Luke Stockton. He scored a try, kicked five conversions and two penalties.
Matt Langstaff ran in three tries while James Lockhart and James Ackers also cross the whitewash.
After what turned into an exemplary display of rugby in the second half, Skipton know that they won't be able to give league leaders Wetherby a 15 point start on Saturday.
