Knaresborough 0 Skipton 65

SKIPTON bounced back from their defeat by leaders Wetherby to register a nine-try demolition of Knaresborough.

With the semi-frozen pitch resembling the hard ground of July, the Skipton boys reverted to their 15-man open style of play, throwing the ball around continually and wearing the home side down.

It was not long before the tries came, with Jon Currie picking up a quick-fire hat trick, duly supported with tries from Matty Langsaff, Owen Higson, James Lockhart , Hamish Munro, Liam Jordan and newcomer Michael Mullins.

Strand-off Mullins scored 25 points after adding a try to his seven conversions and two penalty goals.

Whilst appreciating the 65 well-worked points, the most satisfying part of the game for coach Mark Walton was that Skipton did not allow the home side score any points in return, especially when they were down to 14 men on their own line for a good ten minutes with Knaresborough throwing everything at them.

The man of the match was flanker Jordan Wilson who has shown good form since being promoted from the second team.

The five well-deserved league points have put Skipton back in contention for the second promotion place.
