Skipton 29 Mosborough 26

THE most exciting game at Sandylands this season saw Skipton come back from 14-0 down to beat third-placed Mosborough with a late try from full back Hamish Munro which delighted the home crowd.

The match was played in blustery conditions and it took just three minutes for referee Tom Boyle to issued the first of a series of l yellow cards. Skipton second row Luke Stockton was the first man in the sin bin.

Losing their talisman so early in proceedings unsettled the home side. Mossborough sensed their chance and only an excellent try-saving tackle by centre Matty Langstaff kept them at bay.

The first try came from a Mossborough forward drive after Skipton were penalised for offside. The try was converted.

Minutes later, with Skipton still one man down, Mosborough picked up a spilled ball and scored a second converted try to establish a 14-0 lead.

The Reds replied with spirited back-line play from Connor Carver, Langstaff and Munro and only a dropped last pass denied them a score.

A good period of forward play then followed and a well-worked move by Skipton from a line-out put wing forward Shaun Barraclough over for a try which was sweetly-converted by stand-off Jamie Donnelly.

Skipton were taking the game to the visitors but an unlucky interception gave the Mosborough winger an easy run in for a try to stretch their lead to 19-7.

Skipton received their second yellow card when Jamie Donnelly was punished for an alleged high tackle. It appeared a harsh call.

Skipton coach Mark Walton brought Jon Currie into the back line at half-time with Michael Mullins introduced at stand-off as the home side set about their task of getting some points on the board.

A jinking run by full-back Munro gave the Skipton forwards good field position and put home crowd favourite Harry MacEneanie over for a try. Mullins' neat conversion reduced the deficit to19-14.

A disputed put in at the scrum gave Mosborough a free kick from which they set up a forward drive and crossed for a converted try to extend their lead to 26-14.

Skipton were not daunted by the situation. Fantastic back play from Langstaff put Munro over. The try was not converted but Skipton had clawed back five points.

Skipton received their third yellow card when Langstaff was penalised for lifting in the tackle.

The home side responded with determined forward play which put Sam Garrett over in the corner. The try was not converted and the score stood at 24-26 with the clock ticking down.

To the relief and joy of the home supporters, full back Munro produced another jinking run, weaving his way through the opposition back line to cross for Skipton's fifth try of the afternoon and secure the game for Sandylanders.
