LLOYD Davies has proved to be Wharfedale's 'Mr Versatile' since breaking into the side earlier this season.

He has played in every back position and added stand-off to his list in last Saturday's 34-19 National League One defeat at Richmond.

He moved into the half-back role when Harry Bullough was concussed in the opening minute and he gave another impressive performance.

His form has been a source of delight for coach Jon Feeley, who has seen the young player make his mark in a variety of roles.

Feeley said: "Lloyd came up through out juniors but went off to join Preston Grasshoppers because he wanted to get first-team experience.

"Since his return last summer, he has been determined to get into the first team. Whether it has been on the wing, in the centre or at full back, he has played a big part for us.

"Lloyd has worked so hard on his game and deserves the success he has been achieving. He did a really accomplished job at Richmond in an unfamiliar role, and that has been typical of his attitude."

Feeley, who is relieved that his injury-hit first team squad have a break from league action this weekend, has also praised the efforts of Wharfedale's regular James Druce.

He was called up late last Thursday night to make the trip to Richmond. He was listed among the replacements but played for 79 minutes because of Bullough's injury.

"I cannot praise him enough for the way he handled the situation," said Feeley. "He went on and showed what he can do and his try was a reward for his efforts.

"It means a lot for a club like ours to have players who have such a good commitment to our cause."
