National League One: Hartpury College 54 Wharfedale 29
AFTER a slow start when they shipped three tries to find themselves trailing 21-0 after 17 minutes, Wharfedale played some quality rugby to come away with a deserved bonus point.
Missed tackles allowed Harry Cochrane over, and Gareth Thompson slotted the first of seven conversions, only missing the final one.
The next two tries were by outstanding winger Jonas Mikalcius, Dale then started to get some useful possession and territory, and good work from Josh Prell, Jamie Guy and Rob Baldwin ended with a try for Ali Wade, Jamie Guy adding the extras.
Dale continued to work hard but were dazzled by Mikalcius, who took the ball in his own 22 and, using a combination of speed, strength and body movement, ran 80 metres to score his third try.
Back came Wharfedale, however, and Jack Barnard scored an unconverted try on half-time.
Dale started the second half with a try from veteran Andy Hodgson, Guy just missing, but Hartpury's James Forrester and James McDonald took the score to 41-17 with two converted scores.
Barnard then got a vital bonus-point try for Dale to which Guy added the two points.
Mikalcius added his fourth try before Alistair Allen crossed for Dale's fifth, and Hartpury finished the scoring with their eighth try from Jake Polledri.
